What Ron Paul Means To Me

Ron Paul is my middle finger in the face of a government and an establishment that is blind to my love of liberty. Ron Paul might not be the very best candidate or the very best thinker. That doesn’t matter. Ron Paul is a symbolic figure. That’s a unique situation to be in. Who knows how he acquired this status. It doesn’t even matter. Ron Paul is an icon because the movement needed a voice. No one can say that Iraq was the right war waged the right way. No one can say our government better approximates our ideals than it did 8 years ago. The level of shabby contempt for Ron Paul by the media, the vast intellectual gulf between our dictators-to-be and Ron Paul is visible in interview after interview, debate after debate.

Ron Paul may have “bizarre” ideas to those who think liberty is bizarre. He may have defects yet to be revealed. But for now, he is the biggest middle finger anti-establishment Americans have. What Ron Paul reveals is that there are a quiet few, i.e., millions, of anti-establishment, anti-government Americans. The moniker REVOLution may in time be apt given the future that Ron Paul calls our attention to: national bankruptcy and its solution constitutional government. By emphasizing the need for constitutional government, it implies that our government today is not constitutional and thus not legitimate. Has anyone ran for presidential on that argument and made it so far so fast? Who comes to mind? Only Ron Paul.

Everyone loves Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer because he was the clumsy cute guy who saved the day. That’s what people sense about Ron Paul. He is someone who could save the day since he is aware of the problems. It’s a winning formula. It worked for the first Clinton. It’s the social spending stupid! It’s the welfare-war stupid! It’s the war on America’s future by our own government.

Prediction: Whether Ron Paul wins the election or not, I don’t think those people that are aroused will go away. They will find some new way to express their disapproval because nothing will have changed and the feeling of being empowered by contributing money, by organizing and operating on a vast bilateral wing for liberty will inspire each participate. The FED will still devalue our currency. Welfare bailouts will still continue. The breakdown of our economy will hasten. That will only feed the REVOLution. Ignore it at your own peril. So I say, Yes!

Breed resiliency to the state!

Ron Paul has brought new views into the arena that can’t be swept away. Ron Paul is not Ross Perot. Perot raised issues but he didn’t leave a philosophical guantlet for citizens to chew on. That is what Paul’s significance is. He brings a new perspective to millions of people that will have effects long after the last balloon is popped. He names books, he names thinkers, he names examples in history that elevated the debates in ways that those who pander to groups simply can’t. That is a legacy the intellectuals will have to chew on. Paul also raised his own money. He’s not a Romney with NOTHING to say.

The Establishment’s smears can’t break the man. They can’t quell the people. The smears will not fix the problems. So, here is to my new middle finger, the size of a giant blimp!, and to everyone else who can extend theirs, aimed at the vacuous pundits who don’t see what’s going on.

Talk about small minded vicious media wolves that can’t see what’s going on

Doesn’t it feel good to be able to give the finger to GOP leaders and statists of all stripes? Isn’t it nice to be able to say NO!

Ron Paul has broken the dam. His thoughts, his people, his revolution will cut through something, somehow, somewhere. It may cut the GOP in half, if it doesn’t cut the state in half. Either way, “compassionate conservativism” has hit the fan. Ron Paul has rattled the cage we are in. It is ultimately up to us to turn the key.

One can only hope that he chooses a young VP, someone who is an outsider, someone who can be president, but also give voice for liberty long into the 21st century. That would allow the REVOLution to outlast us all.
